Nemesis: she whom none can escape
Ran Andrews --oil on canvas . . 2004 .. 24 inches x 20 inches In Greek mythology, Nemesis is the goddess of divine justice and vengeance. Her anger is directed toward human transgression of the natural, right order of things and of the arrogance causing it. Nemesis pursues the insolent and the wicked with inflexible vengeance. She is the punisher of hubris. She is regarded as the daughter of Oceanus or Zeus, but according to Hesiod she is a child of Erebus and Nyx. In the Hellenistic period she was portrayed with a steering wheel or scales in her left hand. In this modern interpretation she is portrayed as the glamourous TV presenter of a little reality show called wheel of hubris. More Goddesses E r z u l i | L i b e r t y | N y x | L u n a c h i c k |
